OCU explains why folklore events should be held in church, not in culture house
OCU representatives in Cherkasy explained why they held a concert and a talk about wedding traditions in the seized cathedral.
The OCU stated that folklore and spiritual-cultural events should be held in a church, not in a house of culture. As stated on the Facebook page of the seized St. Michael's Cathedral, such events acquire their full meaning only in a church.
Music here, the structure of Dumenko claims, is perceived as the fruit of prayer, and folk customs – as part of the blessing of family life. Houses of culture, the OCU asserts, also have their own value, but they do not connect what is heard and seen with faith.
According to the authors of the publication, while listening to Vivaldi next to icons, those present may begin to pray for their children, loved ones, and those who have experienced loss.
On October 4, an event titled "Traditions of the Ukrainian Wedding" took place in the cathedral. Participants spoke about the customs with which their ancestors started families. The OCU insists that in a church where weddings are performed, such a conversation takes on special meaning.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a concert was held in the seized cathedral of Cherkasy.
